API
The web UI uses a REST API under https://<SA_UI_HOST>/api/v1/…. That API is bound to the web UI’s session (cookie and CSRF token). For machines there are deliberately only accesses with one narrow purpose.
Machine access
Section titled “Machine access”| Access | Purpose | May |
|---|---|---|
| Status token | report states from an existing monitoring | only POST /api/v1/status-reports; no reading, no changes |
| SCIM token (Pro) | provision users and groups from the identity provider | end access and lower roles, never grant |
Every token has 256 bits, is shown once, stored as a hash, expires after a year at most, can be revoked and has rate limits of its own.
Status reports
Section titled “Status reports”A monitoring such as Checkmk, Zabbix or Uptime Kuma reports the state of an asset. SentryAssets shows it in the asset’s traffic light, next to what the agent reports.
- Create a token under Settings › Status tokens (valid for up to 365 days). It starts with
sa_sts_and is shown once. - An asset’s ID (
asset_id) is in its address in the web UI. - Report the state:
curl --fail -X POST "https://assets.example.test/api/v1/status-reports" \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $SA_STATUS_TOKEN" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{"asset_id": "<asset-uuid>", "state": "warning", "message": "Backup job failing for 2 days"}'| Field | Values |
|---|---|
asset_id |
UUID of the asset |
state |
ok, warning, critical or unknown |
message |
optional, up to 300 printable characters |
Response 204 without content. A report is at most 4 KiB; each token may send up to 1,200 reports per minute.
Health endpoints
Section titled “Health endpoints”/health/live and /health/ready of API and gateway answer without sign-in and without internal details. They serve the containers’ health checks; Caddy does not pass them to the outside.
Agent protocol
Section titled “Agent protocol”Agents and collectors use a host of their own (SA_AGENT_HOST) and the protocol agent/v1 over mTLS. It is not a public interface for your own programs; see Architecture.
Exporting data
Section titled “Exporting data”To pass data on, use the exports of the web UI: the asset list as CSV, the IT-Grundschutz requirement package as CSV, the audit log as JSON Lines, the cost report as CSV. With Pro the audit log goes to a SIEM continuously.
