Check rules
Pro This feature is available from the Pro edition.
Check rules test requirements from the inventory’s data instead of keeping them by hand. Examples:
- “Every device has a responsible person.”
- “Servers with a high protection requirement have a backup proof younger than 90 days.”
Building a rule
Section titled “Building a rule”A rule is a tree of conditions, put together without code on the page Check rules: all, at least one or none of them. Each condition compares a fixed fact with a fitting operator:
category, location, device class, lifecycle, health, responsible person, inventory number, protection requirement, manufacturer, model, host name, last seen, installed software or any category field.
Rules apply to categories and locations of your choice, carry a severity and may name IT-Grundschutz requirements.
Evaluating
Section titled “Evaluating”- The page evaluates the rules with the reader’s rights. Facts the reader may not see count as not checkable, never as a deviation.
- When administration or information security evaluate, deviations are kept with the date they were first seen.
- A deviation can be accepted with a reason for up to a year.
- Rules are data only, never code; the evaluation runs apart so that a large inventory does not slow down others.
Tickets and workflows turn new deviations into work items in your ticket system. Notification targets can be told about new deviations; the message names only the kind of event, the time, the organisation and a link to the audit log.
